storage heaters - confused

They vary in power rating, but say it was 10 kW then it would cost you a unit of electricity every 6 minutes so at least a few £ a week and worth shifting onto off-peak if possible.roosaaliiee said:
Thanks for this. I don't think I'll be up late or early enough to have showers during off-peak time, and I don't think my landlord will put in a mixer shower, sadly. Is that the main culprit you think? I'm surprised because I had exactly the same shower in my previous house and I only paid £60 per month for electricity...
Having your water tank heating on peak rate with have similarly been costing a fair amount so you should see an improvement with the corrected timer.
From the timings above it sounds like cheap rate was starting late afternoon, so the heaters would be cold for much of the middle of the day and hot during the night. So probably not ideal timing for mostwittynamegoeshere said:I'd have kept very quiet about that timer being out. Too late now.2 -
I'd have just connected oil filled radiators to the economy 7 supply and had very low cost heat on demand from the afternoon to evening, I wouldn't have bothered with the storage concept at all.coffeehound said:

Possibly the sort of thing that wouldn't last and/or would end in a court case though!

Allowing that the water in the immersion is hot anyway, a good solution for this is to bath before bed rather than showering - sadly electric showers DO use a lot of juice, it would certainly be worth you doing a cost comparison, at least for some days of the week. Thanks for this.
