EDF ENERGY

Last year I switched to EDF energy. I paid £110 per month. After about six months they put my DD up to £206 pm which was a struggle as we are pensioners. So that was an increase of about £90 pm which I’ve paid for six months, or £540. I received my bill yesterday which stated I would receive a refund of, guess what, £540. So they have had my extra money for six months which I struggled to pay. Along with the bill was a statement to say I would now be paying £288 per month! I phoned today and remonstrated and we have agreed a payment of £120 per month. I was told it was only a recommendation that I should pay £288. I am computer literate and capable of arguing my corner but what if I wasn’t? I might have really struggled with paying that amount each month, for no reason. Appalling.

@Lottiebiscuit Sounds like a lot of guessing going on by Edf - have you been giving them monthly reads.
Have you the meter reads from 12 months ago and also from today please ? Can you do your sums and calculate what is due ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1 -
How is this any kind of saving?0

Credit built during summer months will cover autumn/winter usage. People are quick to complain without thinking matters through fully.1
