Slow phone due to open tabs?

Would I be right in thinking each time a page is visited, and you move on, the page remains open so there are countless tabs floating about, if so, does this slow down your phone.

If this is correct, is there a way via settings, to have each page closed properly?. That way,the phone would react swifter, wouldn't it?.

As long as you move on through the same tab, that's the only tab open.
Most browsers have an 'open tab' counter somewhere on the page. Just check that for the number of open pages.

If you click on links from other apps (e.g. email) then these will typically open as new tabs in your browser (unless they open within the app itself). So it is possible to have lots of concurrent tabs running in your browser. And yes, each tab will use some resources so it will probably cause problems eventually.

On my phone I can "close all" I have 3 vertical lines which shows all open pages, under which is "close all"
