Utilita Changing Banks?

I received a email from utilita 1st October to inform me utilita was changing banks & supplied me with a new sort code and account number.
They also advised I go into my bank and change my standing order details to the new account. Has any utilita customers here on MSE  had this email?

Is this a genuine email or a scam?

Ive not seen any announcement on utilita's website. Trying to contact utilita is like waiting on a phone call from the moon.

Sounds dodgy to me.  Don't do it.  Usually you give your bank account details to a company and they set up the DD.
  • I think it's pretty rare to be paying by standing order rather than direct debit. Do you know for sure which method you are paying them via?

Certainly feels like a scam to me.
  • Reason I was suspicious is the email sent to me was different to the one used on my utilita account. Reason for standing order is I have complete control on how much they get from my bank. Had a problem 18 months ago with unreasonable amounts they were taking via d/debits.

    PS
Just spoke to guy at utilita, definitely a scam email. Anyone else reading this BEWARE, UTILITA EMAIL ABOUT CHANGING BANKS IS FAKE!
