    Thanks @Davesnave
    The only trouble there is the managing agents might not like me doing that .
    I was thinking of just getting a few copper nails .
    As I say , I'd like it if a small plant with berries could be put in its place .

    The managing agents have had about 3 different " garbening " companies maintain the block in the 4 + years I have been here . One guy was regular miserable , but kept everything under control. There was somebody who used to hack down the Buddleia every august bank holiday .
    In October 2019 a new co joined . They were very professional . They hacked down the Buddleia which never grew back . You may see the thick tree outside one of 5he windows.
    The managing agents decided to change companies , as they were deemed too expensive .
    This crowd we have now, don't have a company logo. Just a white van . The " gardeners " wear black t shirts with orange print on them . They often turn up on various Tuesdays ( sometimes Fridays ) with loud leaf blowers and no tools .
    In a way , it's a delicate situation as the better the garden co may increase my service charges.

    I'm still waiting ( got to be patient ) from the managing agents as to if it's a communal dish
    If so, they should fix it . If not , it looks like I'd either have to get a sky subscription for 18 months 🤬or pay for an aerial and get freeview plus a freeview box .
    My asking for help on next door website hasn't gone anywhere so far . Oh, well...

    I wouldn't go that route, leaves evidence if any one's looking for it. Something in a squirty spray bottle, like Roundup, from say £land and a surreptitious squirt when the new green shoots appear should slowly do the job. The plant will mysteriously start dying for no obvious reason and after say a year it will be just dead & brown

    A mysterious slow death happened to a sycamore seedling tree outside my front window that the council refused to trim back, they removed the dead trunk a year or so later, very odd things happen to plants

    One other question regarding the thick branches ..
    I am wondering if I cut those thick branches, whether the purple stuff would come back.
    The ones on the other side just stayed bare..

    Buddleia is a garden thug which grows vigorously and self-seeds readily. It doesn't even need any soil (you can see plenty growing in the granite ballast of railway tracks for example). It also isn't a native plant, although the butterflies and insects love it.
    You can cut it back any time of year and it will survive.

    I think it depends on the garden as to whether it's a thug. In ours, we have no trouble accommodating about a dozen varieties and there are some small ones available if people are willing to pay for them. The best large variety for insects is probably 'Dartmoor.'
    Scientific studies show that plants should be judged individually on their merits, rather than whether they're native, when properties good and bad are weighed-up.
  • Update ;
    Managing agents are sending someone to look at it .
    I'll have to explain and show them etc .
    Should expect a call sometime

    That's positive. A gorilla armed with a mattock could probably remove the roots without too much bother. One can't use a chain saw at ground level. It's not a great thing to have growing beside older house foundations, so there's your leverage!
  • Further update ;

    He is changing cable that goes into my front room
