Gambling - 3 years clean!

Three years clean this week from gambling. I use to lie, borrow and waste money. Thankfully I was on good money and I still have house(s) and savings and my wife stood by me - just! Must have lost £100k over the years.

My lightbulb moment was when bookies started closing my accounts because I'd started to do 'matched betting' (guaranteed wins) and they weren't happy. So basically they'd take my money on mug bets but not on those mathematically in my favour.

So happy with life now. You'll never win. That's my story. Wish I could turn the clock back 30 years.

Don’t think about turning the clock back, you have overcome a problem that could easily have wrecked you life and marriage. So many others fail to escape their addictions, so you should be thankful for your (and your wife’s) achievement in overcoming this and look firmly to the future not the past.

Dont look back and say "what if", that way lies madness IMO.
Just give your wife a big hug and a kiss every day and appreciate every moment you have ahead.

EXCELLENT Well done you! If you dont do this already maybe look into becoming a mentor /coach for a local gambling advice charity. SO many more people out there need help from those that have been there.

Very well done.  We've probably all got regrets about things we've done in the past, maybe not the same magnitude as yours but all we can do is look to the future and make the best of what lies ahead, and not dwell on the past. Very best wishes to you and your wife for the future.
