O/S Daily Sunday 3 October 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, dry but, temperature has really dropped. Rain forecast yet again and for the coming days. I have relented and put the heating on, won't be on too long just want to take the chill off.
DH watching catchup tv, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and a brekkie bar whilst on here. DS1 still in his pit and DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was hot quiche, hot new potatoes and beans, I had salad. We'll be having roast lamb today.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all.
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
It rained all day yesterday, Beano wouldn't go out for a walk, he just widdled under the nearest tree and then ran back indoors. We've had the stove lit for a few days now to keep us warm. We are having roast lamb today too.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.12 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. It's flippin; cold here too so the heating is on again to take the chill off. It's getting a bit regular now but I can't cope with being cold. There is NO rain forecast for today. I shall believe that if it happens! But the sun is shining so they may be right.
I survived my Covid booster intact yesterday with no ill effects at all. Not even a sore arm. The surgery was very well organised with 4 clinicians doing the jabs so very little waiting - other than the 15 minutes afterwards!
As I had pondered on I did go down for the Skipton bus afterwards for a wander round there. And great minds ROSY, I too bought some stayfresh bags! I only know of one shop hereabouts that sells them and that's the Yorkshire Trading Outlet either there or Otley. (I won't pay silly money at Lakeland!) I have been washing and re-using the same bags for weeks I'm sure they were well past keeping any veg fresh!
I was just enjoying my wander when the heavens opened so I caught the scenic route bus to Ilkley to escape it. Sadly it followed me there so it was another wet wander. My mission to look for a cheerful winter waterproof came to nothing. A few coats caught my eye but, as is always the case, none in my size. All in extremely tiny or larger sizes In one shop the assistant produced a bright yellow coat for age 13!!! Surprisingly it fit me. I know I have lost height over the years but didn't realise it was so much! But I thought I looked like a canary in it! So the search goes on.
No plans for today, other than some washing which may or may not get hung out. Another Slothful Sunday. Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, poorly loved ones and MIA. Thinking of NELS and MARIE. Take care one and all and be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -
Morning All
It's bright and sunny this morning but very chilly so the heating has been on for half an hour to take the chill off. Yesterday it rained on and off but was dry for the loch swim - 13.5 degrees in the water, my feet were completely numb by the time I got dried and dressed. I've ordered some wetsuit socks to see if that helps, I've got gloves that helped my hands. I do enjoy going so will carry on once a week for now.
Went to the allotment yesterday and took out all the sweetcorn, squash, bean and courgette plants, just the kale remaining. The heavens opened whilst I was there but it needed to be done. Hopefully someone will spread some manure on for me this week that can work it's magic during the winter. Sad to be at the end of the growing season but I've enjoyed all the produce. I still have green beans in the garden, won't be long until they too are finished. I intend to get out there later today.
Washing can go out when it's finished in the machine, curtains in the living room need to come down today in readiness for the decorator, a friend came and took down a very heavy time clock yesterday, that and a large picture are going to DS1, he'll need an empty car to get them home.
Thinking of those with worries and ailments, hopefully the sunshine will cheer you. Take care. XX12 -
Morning folks. The weather here is dreadful again. I watched the morning rain move in from across the sea, now that it's arrived it's really heavy with very low white cloud. The forecast isn't good for the rest of the day either. It's definitely a day for lighting the stove and snuggling down.Yesterday was fairly dull, both in weather and in activity! Today maybe the same. I filled the bird feeders up and then just pottered around until it was time for SCD which I watched in bed, it was such a long programme again.Happy Sunday to all.13

MorningLooks like being a mixed weather day, but at least we didn't get wet walking DDog. Yesterday some heavy spells, but a good win for DGS footie team, then a good win for our team. There were 2 women in a biggish family group behind DGD and myself. I don't really know why they went, they never shut up ,DGD ( 10) kept rolling her eyes at me and at half time she said' why are they even here,it's not a tea party'- very into her football our girl
,it was distracting though. Home to hm lasagne afterwards with a garlic bread.
Quiet day today, nothing planned .I shall be cooking pork fillet with honey & garlic sauce, mushrooms & potatoes for tea, followed by a fruit crumble . I might get some cardmaking done, I feel a bit more like doing C cards now the weather's turned.I hope you all have a good day whatever you're up to , and better health for the poorlies x

Morning all
Dry here for now and meant to stay dry all dy but we will see ! Yesterday was dreadful it poured with rain all day and all night, we lit the log burner which was lovely and cosy but very soon got too hot, I changed into summer pyjamas and had the door to the conservatory open to cool down a bit
I am feeling a bit anxious today about my return to work tomorrow so I need to keep busy, we will get tiny pup out for a good long walk and I need to make sure I have everything ready for the morning, I know it will be ok when I get there but its just the thought of going in.
Not sure about dinner today I will go and pull something out of the freezer after this. I have stripped the beds this morning and got them on a hot wash.
Have good days all and stay safe xxx

Morning all, up at stupid o'clock, had a cuppa then went back to bed and luckily had another couple of hours shut eye. We have sharp heavy showers here so the bedding won't get washed again today 😟 It's such a shame as there are beautiful clear blue skies in between but I can't be doing playing the hokey cokey all day. At the moment we are waiting for the drive man to arrive to discuss Mr Fix It's amended plans, seems he wants to go wider and longer now.I shall be taking things easy today as we have a busy week coming up so my jigsaw awaits my attention. On Mon Tues and Wed we will be taking DGD to school after giving her a breakfast as the lady who normally takes her along with her own son, has tested positive in a flow test for covid, however her PCR test came back negative, but she's taking no chances and is isolating. The dw is doing it's thing and I have hand washed the wok along with a few other bits and bobs. As I forgot to take any meat out of the freezer for today, it will be a freezer dip later, there's quite a bit of choice so it's no problem.Hope everyone has a good SundayTake care and hugs to all.nan xx

Good morning,
Heavy rain showers here interspersed with sunshine and lovely blue skies
I shall be attempting to clear the greenhouse and sort the last of the courgettes and runner beans between showers.
I will also make a start on clearing a bedroom that has been used as a dumping ground for the last 18 months as it has been unusable whilst waiting to be skimmed. 🤞the plasterer will be here this month.
Slow cooked pork for dinner tonight.Strictly results show and new midsummer murders on the tv😊
Have a good day x10 -
Afternoon everyone
Been down to mam and dads this morning with little one - she made cakes with mam while I got dads laptop jobs done. DD picked her up about 11.
She would not have her nap yesterday afternoon without her dummy so I had to give in eventually and get her back up. I was prepared by bedtime though and 'found' a bunny in the cupboard and showed her the spare dummy out of the bathroom cupboard had gone....the fairies must have taken it without me noticing and left a bunny....The story must have been convincing cos she slept from 7 last night till 7 this morning....sucking a bunny's ear!
The sun is shining though it's quite cold so I'm going to go out and do some tidying in the back garden. Then it will be feet up with my Sunday Times.
Hope everyone has a good day9
