Installing new plumbing for a dishwasher

I'd really like to put a dishwasher in our kitchen but there's no plumbing for one. How difficult/expensive is it to get some added in an already installed kitchen?  Unfortunately it won't fit next to the sink so will have to go along a different wall.

How far "along a different wall"? A plan would be useful.
What sort of kitchen is it? Do the cabinets have 'service space' at the back'?
Where does the sink waste pipe go?
You can extend the dishwasher waste hose by up to 3m, but if this isn't sufficient, it has to be a waste pipe that must have a certain downhill gradient - at least about 1 to 80 IIRC.

As grumbler has said a sketch or photos would be useful. It needs a cold water feed, electric and a waste to work so ideas of where these are already would help.
Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.

Also, what drains are available on the outside of the house? It’s easy to drill a hole, and then run a new waste pipe, and for all we know there’s a gully right next to where you want to put the dishwasher.

cold water feed and electricity are usually less of an issue than the waste.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
  • If it was me I’d be making it fit next to the sink, much less hassle and mess when using it that way.

It’ll be the easiest fit as well.

You do get 2.4m hose and feed pipe extensions for washing machine and dishwasher, I had to install a 3/4" male to male connector (I actually used a 3/4" x3/4" x 15mm compression with the tap turned off towards the 15mm)  between the feed hose and the dishwasher feed (as the feed water hose could not be removed on mine). This along with 2.5m waste hose extension, the end part of my hose does loop up into the waste collector.

You would need to try this to see if it works, some dishwashers can be sensitive to the length of the drain hose and show frequent error messages.

You could even have a permanent feed and drain installed (usually they would try to get this under the cabinets)

I'd advise against an extended drain hose, they block too easily. No one can tell you what it will cost without knowing a lot more, get a plumber to quote. Do it now and he may fit you in before Christmas.
