O/S Daily Saturday 2 October 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, dry but, temperature has really dropped. Rain forecast yet again and for the coming days.
DH watching catchup tv, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and a brekkie bar whilst on here. DS1 still in his pit and DS2 settled and happy.
Yesterday turned out to be a bit of a day food shopping was ok, once home I received a telephone call from the garage (I was supposed to be going to pick up a change of car for myself) to say that they had discovered a fault with the car and therefore couldn't sell it to me as it wouldn't start, although I had test driven in when I'd chosen it) so went down to garage to have a look for something else - which I have chosen, so then they gave me their courtesey car which then developed a problem when I was half way home with it! So at present I have my original car back until Wednesday when I collect my new chosen one! So also spent some time on the phone to the insurance company making sure that was all in order - in fairness I'm disappointed that I can't have the car I originally chose I don't want a car that's going to let me down.
Dinner last night a bbq beans and sausage casserole - very nice it was too. Tonight will be hot quiche, hot new potatoes, ham, scotch eggs, salad, potato salad/coleslaw.
Will take it steady today just doing what's needed.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Steve wants to shop today as he's running low on snacks, I shall do some crochet, I have two wind spinners ordered and I'm starting another blanket in teal.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester.Chin up, Titus out.12 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Crikey the temps are plummeting day by day. It was only 15 deg in the kitchen when I got up so the heating is on to take the chill off. Nothing much is happening outside but the weatherman says the heavy rain will reach us early afternoon.
I am booked in for my Covid booster jab at 9.30 at my surgery in town. I had no ill effects from the first two so fingers crossed I am the same this time. After that the day is my own! Weather dependant I might get the bus on to Skipton afterwards and then hopefully be back home before the rain gets here. I want (but don't need!) a new winter weight rain jacket in a nice cheerful colour. I was determined, when I got my current one, that I wouldn't end up with yet another black one but I did!!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, poorly loved ones, sad or lonely. Take care and be safe xx

Good morning, thanks for starting NMLC.Hope you're ok after your jab TA.We've had a busy couple of days, our young dgs was in hospital for a day with a mystery respiratory virus (not the CV), and was quite poorly. He's home now, and getting better, he's got a little inhaler, but has to go straight back to hospital it it starts up again. It looks as if we might go to visit DH's bro next week, just keeping an eye on the fuel situation.Ds and family will be over tomorrow, so I'll make a few preparations for that. There's a large beef casserole in the freezer so that's a start.Hope everyone has as good a day as they can, thoughts to our poorly people and anyone struggling with life.Take care folks.11

Good morning all,
Thanks nmlc for the new thread, rotten luck about the car, hope the second choice works out all right for you.
Flu jabs for OH and I this morning, then off out into the country to a coffee morning in village where one of my DBs live, hoping to see some friends and family, but never know who will turn up.
3 day break in Llandudno booked for week after next, tried 8 recommended hotels, but so hard to get 3 days together, ended up at one we have stayed at before, 10 minutes level walk to the sea front and loads of their own parking, enjoyed it last time (end of Feb 2019) so hope all good again.
Rotten forecast for this weekend, really need to tackle the piles of paperwork, perhaps break that up with some cooking, fancing trying toad in the hole in my Ninja Grill and have a new flapjack recipe to try.
Take care all, stay safe (Covid19 figures pretty high here).

Morning everyone
I hung my washing out as soon as I got up this morning as we are forecast rain later. Will have to get the timer for the heating sorted as it has been chilly the last few mornings and little one is staying tonight.
Scarlet Ribbons - sorry to hear about your grandson - little one had a respiratory virus a few weeks ago called RSV - they said at the hospital that a lot of children are getting it just now.
Just booked my mams Covid booster for next week - she had her flu jab yesterday and they offered to give her Covid one at same time, but she wasn't sure if she should have both at once.
I'm going to go down for coffee with mam and dad this morning and have new bedding to collect from Argos for little one. She's too big now for a sleeping bag and blanket so I've bought her a duvet for her cot bed and a cover with cute dinosaurs on - she loves dinosaurs. She left her dummies out for the fairies to take a couple of nights ago and so far she has been fine without them - fingers crossed for her sleeping at my house tonight! She was thrilled that the dinosaurs left her a book as a present in return.
DD is bringing her up about 11 this morning as she is going out with friends for the day. It would be nice if the sun popped out later so I could do some tidying in the garden while she played, but I think that might be wishful thinking! We'll see.Better get on - hope everyone has a good day today

Morning, hugs if you need one.
A very grey morning, I need to go to a village a couple of miles away to get some fresh fruit to see us through till our delivery on Friday. DB is still panicking about the fuel situation...... we may have to queue to get fuel to come home.
I sat at the embroidery machine most of yesterday, the gardener came and put in the clematis that arrived yesterday morning.
All day breakfast tonight.8 -

Morning all & hugs to those in need. Looks like we'll get wet watching DGS play football this morning. Usually we'd be there watching at this time but it's a later kick off today. We're also all going to watch our town team this afternoon.DH and I had season tickets for many years but stopped going once DGD and DGS came along as Saturday became our main day for seeing them, but now theyre old enough & want to go. In fact when I picked DGD up from school yesterday, we were talking about it, and she said she absolutely loves going. Reminds me of when my DDad used to take me, my brothers were still a bit young, or maybe my DM said he had to take one of us if he was going on a Saturday afternoon so she wasn't left with the 3 of usI've taken a lasagne out of the freezer for later, with garlic bread. Yesterday I had a bus trip to Bury Market, got a ham shank to make soup, some of those green veg bags I've been meaning to get for ages and a bargain top & jeans. I caught the scenic route home on the bus, goes through a couple of villages with great views of the hills and moors.Right better go and find my waterproof coat ( it's deep pink TA
) Have a good day all x

Blowing a gale here and heavy rain due later and for the rest of the day, we are going to get logs and kindiling in today and light the log burner later on, it will be the first time this autumn so I am looking forward to it.
Chilli and rice for dinner tonight which OH will cook as he makes a good chilli, dd is away till tomorrow so no veggi one to cook.
I have got the towels on a hot wash this morning and another load to go in after they will have to go on the airer or in the td today. DW needs empying and we will have a quick wizz around the house. the bathroom needs a good clean.
Ive not heard from Nels, I suspect she is struggling to write with her poor hands but she is hopefully getting some help for them in hospital.
Have good days all and stay safe xxx10
