Hi, I run a tiny business. If I wanted to add another person as a Director (limited company), so he would have the same rights as me and become legally responsible for the company as much as me, then would our credit files get linked?
I ask because if you share/rent a house with another person, like a girlfriend, then normally I believe the credit files get linked or associated with that other person. I understand this definitely true of married people.
It concerns me to have my credit files may get linked to another person, as I have worked so hard to keep an excellent score.
Thank you.
Ryan.

You only get financially linked to another person if you share a joint financial product which is recorded by the credit reference agencies. Since married people usually get a mortgage together, this is why their credit files are linked, not because they are living together or married.I can't comment on the directorship creating any financial links.1

Hi Guys, Thanks for your reply. So, just to confirm, are you both saying that if I let someone else become a Director in my tiny limited company, if he has bad credit history as example, it shouldn't effect me in my personal life or personal credit score. Correct?
Thank you.0 -

I understood from searching online that the company had its own credit file. But I thought that maybe if 2 people are directors they may get linked as connected people on their credit file.
Thank you your help on this.0 -
The liability is with the limited company, not (at least directly) with the directors of the limited company.
That's the whole point of having limited liability. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
