Fair Price for Conveyancing?

We've just sold our 2 bed semi for £124,995 and have been quoted a "special offer" (through the solicitors that the estate agents use) of £325 + VAT

Does this seem a fair price for a house of this value in the north west?

  • That seems a fair price to me, though I do live in West Yorkshire which is not really your area. I'm a sales negogiator and get asked to find quotes for quite a few of our vendors. You could always ring Simply Conveyancing for a quote, they use local solcitors all over the country and are usually cheaper than going to the soliciotr direct!

It sounds an excellent price to me. You don't often get a good deal from the solicitor recommended by the ea, so you've hit lucky there.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
  • That'll ding dang do for me!

Thanks for the replies / reassurance :)
  • Make sure you get a written estimate and read ALL the small print. £325 + vat is quite cheap.

It's a good deal if they do not add on extras for, e.g:
    • Paying off the mortgage (if you have one)
    • Postages, telephones, and petty incidentals,
    • Professional Indemnity Contribution
    • Completing in less than 3 weeks from exchange

As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.
