Bulb and selling property question

I'm in the process of selling my property and my Bulb supply my gas and electricity. I hope to complete by the end of Oct and I know there's some uncertainty with Bulb atm. I'm just wondering if when I complete, Bulb goes under at that time or is taken over, it could cause complications with telling them I'm going and giving final meter readings on the day. Any advice on if there's anything I can do to stop possible problems down the road? IE... just swap provider to a safe big 6 short term now for example to save possible issued down the road?

I'd submit a reading now, then check when your account is updated and request any credit (they won't give it all if any but will ensure there is 1 month credit available).  Then do a switch to whatever deal is good enough.  You can probably do all of that within about 48 hours and be switched either before you move and possibly before Bulb goes under.

Switch now and you may well find that it hasn't completed before you move. If Bulb do fail then an SoLR will be appointed long before you are due to get any credit balance back anyway, which is normally up to 6 weeks after your moving date and submission of closing reads.

Brie, macman...thank you both. I do worry if I switch now, it wont happen before completion. It's not my credit that bothers me...more getting stuck in some grey area where I get billed for buyers energy because I can't get hold of Bulb to say I'm going/gone and any issues that may cause me down the road

I wouldn't worry about that, you would cancel the DD in those circumstances and wait for the SoLR to be appointed and then provide the details to them.
Just take photos of the meters on the final day just in case.

I set up a switch a couple of weeks back from Bulb to Sainsburys and it's finalising this weekend.  Pretty quick!

We're in the process of trying to sell an elderly relative's house. Bulb are the provider The electric meter has been broken for almost 18 months. They are finally supposed to be replacing it early November. Just hoping it happens before they go under....
