Hang 30kg mirror
I have a very heavy mirror (28kg) that I want hanging on the wall in my lounge.
The wall is plaster on brick, both of which are good quality.
The mirror comes with 2 rings on the back. This is the model: https://www.williamwoodmirrors.co.uk/products/carved-louis-black-leaner-mirror-chelsea-72-x-36
Given the weight, I'm really anxious about what screw/fitting/etc to use. Does anybody have any advice?

2 x 2" 8 gauge screws into the brick with red plugs (5.5mm masonry bit) will support 28kg no problem0

I have dry lined walls which are a nightmare to hang stuff on and I oversize everything.
If it were me, I would use something like this and know for sure that it isnt coming off the wall.

I reckon those would hold 40Kg easy - id use a ring spanner to screw the thing to the wall as well, very satisfying to feel it biting in and not moving - thats what I would use.

I would use steel /copper wire to make a hanger for the back of your mirror ,will make it easier to level up .Martian2035 said:I have a very heavy mirror (28kg) that I want hanging on the wall in my lounge.

Hollow wall anchors for plasterboard/stud, a couple of screws and rawl plugs and screws if it's something sturdier.

I think you'd have difficulty hooking the little tiny rings on the back of the mirror onto those bolt heads.Ant555 said:

2" 8's into red plugs is really all thats required, if you think they are not strong enough have a look at whats fastening the ring hooks onto the mirror frame, probably some teeny tiny 4 gauge 16mm screws....
watch this video and see how much force it takes to get these to come apart. and it seems its the wood thats giving way, if you have a fixing into solid brick I would imagine you could put 500kg onto them without worrying, and here we are debating over a 30kg mirror

Apparently the cool kids just lean a big mirror up against the wall (this month at least)

Unless that's achored to the wall, there's not much to stop it slipping if you knock it with your foot or a mop whilst cleaning.

surely it's extra mass will create enough friction on the floor to stop it from moving?Slinky said:Unless that's achored to the wall, there's not much to stop it slipping if you knock it with your foot or a mop whilst cleaning.

That's what I'd been doing up until now, but it's so yesterday...because tomorrow morning, it's going on the wall!coffeehound said:Apparently the cool kids just lean a big mirror up against the wall (this month at least)
