E-on are trying to force a Smart Meter on me....and they're making threats.

The danger with less suppliers going forward is that tariffs will be more limited, and no doubt the smart tariffs will be cheaper. So through higher cost forcing many to get a smart meter installed. Would you install a smart meter if it could give you access to a tariff saving over £100 a year.

Only a fool would deny themself the benefit of TOU tariffs.

TOU tariffs are going to be an absolute pain to compare between providers though.Verdigris said:Only a fool would deny themself the benefit of TOU tariffs.0 -
My previous supplier kept wanting to book installation of a smart meter, even booking a date and telling me they were coming, but I told them to cancel. If nothing else, I don't want to have to reset all of my clocks. If there is a price/tariff incentive at some point, then I'll probably go for it.0

BEIS is already trialling a tariff comparison tool that, with the consumer’s approval, pulls the last 12 months of data from the meter. Provided the meter is set up for 30 minute usage recording then a meaningful t-o-u tariff comparison can be made. PCWs will either have to become registered DCC Users or partner with an organisation that is registered.oliverbrown said:

Both EOn next and Sainsbury tariffs loads of people from here were recently switching to had it written that you agree to have smart meter installed. That’s why I didn’t switch to them.0

It depends where in the country you live. They either use their own technicians or Morrison's.Verdigris said:E.on use Morrison Group to fit their smart meters. Always very neatly done, so that is about the only good thing about E.on in my experience.0 -
Why not? You're presumably talking about having new meters that are counting up from zero but what negative effect are you worried about?prowla said:If nothing else, I don't want to have to reset all of my clocks.
You may just be coming from the position that everythng is working fine as it is and are just taking the view that any change gives a chance of an issue occuring? This was my own attitude.0
