I don’t know where to post this so apologies if it’s in the wrong place.

I want to ask some advice regarding compensation following a car accident. Someone pulled out in front of me nearly 3 years ago and I hit them head on at about 55mph. Long story short, car was written off, 3 ambulances, ended up in hospital with a broken wrist, injuries to my back and neck, whiplash, burns to my hands and face, bruising from head to toe but thankful that it wasn’t worse.

I’ve had countless physio sessions for my neck and back, still get a little discomfort but nothing major, had counselling to help me with driving again but the worse bit is my wrist as it has never healed properly. Ended up having surgery last week under a general and been told the bones haven’t set properly, there is ligament damage, I have early onset arthritis and I will either have to live with the pain and discomfort for the rest of my life or have surgery to reconstruct or have it fused, not keen on either option!

Add to all this the countless hospital trips, time off work, damaged clothing in the accident. Would anybody have any sort of an idea what a claim like this may be worth? My priority has been getting pain free but I can’t help but wonder what sort of compensation may be coming my way.

Have also recently been diagnosed with bilateral papilledema and had all the usual tests, no brain tumour and perfectly healthy. It’s been suggested that it may be due to the head trauma or the medication I took for pain afterwards. If it’s not resolved been told my vision will be affected. Got solicitors on the case to try and see if there’s any connection.

Sorry for the long post but if anybody has any similar experience and could advise what they think this may be worth I would love to hear from you.

I don't know whether you've posted in the best place but I'd edit your post and change the heading to something like Compensation following injuries sustained in a car crash
Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.
  • I couldn’t find a suitable heading so not sure this is in the right place, apologies if it isn’t

You need expert help, there is no way strangers on a forum can help you here.

A no win no fee solicitor or better still call your own insurers and see what they recommend.

You've 3 years from the accident to begin court proceedings for a PI claim and are now fast running out of time to find a lawyer, have them assess the merits of the case and get the papers to court to protect your position.

You are paying for professional legal advice, why haven't you asked them to give you an idea of the likely compensation given they have seen the medical reports to date etc rather than strangers on the internet who may just be using a random number generator?

I agree, consult your legal team.  They'll know where liability lies for the accident, therefore which policy is being claimed from, where personal injury claims currently sit, etc.  It sounds too early to determine what the ultimate payout may be, because you have emerging and ongoing health conditions that may be a consequence of the crash.

3 years ago, car written off....have you already settled your claim? If so, you don't get to go back for another bite of the cherry.

Is a personal injury claim another bite?
  • Isn't this just a zombie thread that was resurrected yesterday by some new poster touting a NWNF firm?  That post seems to have been removed now.
