British Gas

Good old British Gas, appointed by Ofgem to take on my electricity supply after PFP Energy folded and conveniently used the date that the energy cap rose as the start date for the supply meaning that their alternate fixed deal has risen by around £20 a month from this time last week when I was unable to switch!

£20? I had an email today saying that as from 5th October my DD is changing from £50/month to £129/month, because I was only paying 11p/kwh for my electric that is now going to cost 24p/kwh (plus the standing rate is also going up)

Is this turning into a monty python sketch?
I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
    There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.
  • British Gas.

Hi, currently still with Peoples Energy who are being replaced by British Gas.

Just received email from BG which says:

    “Hello

We’ve received a request to set up or change your password.

You can set your new password by following this link:

    Reset and access your account

If you didn’t ask to reset your password, or you are accessing your account for the first time, don’t worry, your account is still secure.”

So, are they asking me to change my current PE password?

And when they say, “We’ve received a request to change your password”

Who exactly has requested this to happen as it is not me?

Do you think I should change it?

In five days, Sainsbury’s are taking over my supply

British Gas were appointed SoLR for PFP and will take over billing from 11th September.  The tariff "Price Promise April 2022" was agreed with Ofgem at the time they were appointed SoLR, and the details have been on their website since 16th September.

Same happened to me and others moving from PFP to BG.

It's a bit clunky and seems a bit strange, but it's to set up a password for your new British Gas account.  Keep in mind that SoLR transfers are different from normal ones.  If you'd voluntarily signed up to BG you'd have created an account and password at signup.  But because there is no signup under SoLR they have will have manually created an account with your email address, and now you need to set up a password.  It's nothing to worry about and is legit.
