Printer won't connect to new Virgin Media Hub 3.0

Options

Our Virgin Media hub has been changed to a 3.0.  Our Samsung M2070W Laser Printer worked off the previous hub but since it has been changed the new hub will not recognise the printer.

I have followed instructions to try to change the printer settings but there is only a menu up and down button and no means to actually enter the new WiFi network and password in the printer.

I have pressed the button on the printer to bring up a WPS password and it says to enter it into the AP within 2 minutes.  I presumed this to mean I press the WPS button on the router, it flashes green but still it won't connect.

Virgin don't want to know and I would appreciate any suggestions.

  • Just to clarify did you use the WPS button on the printer as per below - you shouldn't need to enter a password:

Link to manual to find page 151 for more info.

  • Yes I did it like that with the WPS button.  When pressed it brought up a pin number and said to enter it in the access point within 2 minutes.  So I pressed the WPS Share button on the hub immediately and the green WIfi signal came on but still didn't connect.  I feel it would help if I could wipe all the current settings on the printer but there doesn't seem that option.

    Did you read page 151?

It tells you how to switch from PIN mode to PBC mode that doesn't need a PIN. It should be in PBC mode by default so this has been changed by a user at some point.

Page 192 explains how to reset to factory default if you prefer that approach.
  • When you say doesn't connect are you talking about a pc not connecting to it?

That's done it tallmansix - many thanks for all your help. I saw your link and read page 151 above and saw the bit about switching to PBC which was the factory default and it worked!  I've no idea why there was a pin set in it.  I had it new 5 or 6 years ago and it seemed to set up easily with the old hub at the time.
At least I'll hopefully know what to do (or where to look) next time.
