be patient or not

So  in January 2020 we booked Ibis Tokyo for September 2020 non refundable
As we could not fly I contacted the hotel and they offered to let us rebook for up to 18 months.
I have now tried to rebook and got the following email

Thank you for your email.

Actually, ibis Tokyo Shinjuku will close from the 30.11.2021 definitely. (Official announcement has not been made yet.)

We will proceed to refund for the reservations after December 2021 including your booking, however we and travel agents are discussing about the way to refund. (whether the refund is through agents or not.)

We will inform you once it is clear.

Please kindly be patient.

Best regards,

so the question is would you wait or contact your CC for a section 75 refund

Asking your credit card provider for S75 reimbursement at this stage, for which you would need to show the communication from the hotel, would probably result in them asking you to be patient for a while as requested. However, it would (or should) then be on file with them if there is subsequently no refund from the hotel as a result of your patience.
