Hi all,

I am looking to buy the house as shown on the attached google maps image (shown in the middle of image marked red). Am I right in thinking the garden is west facing and if so what time of day could I expect to get sun in the garden.

Any help much appreciated.

Impossible to say from Google maps. Try and find it on an ordinance survey map or if you can drive there with a compass.
If it is west facing it will be shaded from the house shadow in the morning but sunny in the afternoon and evening.
However that big tree will give shade then apart from midsummer ish. Not a bad thing. Mine is sw facing and gets really hot.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I would say it's more N-W orientated.Judging by the shadows on the picture, it looks like it was taken just before midday and the garden is in full sun. There will be sun in some part of the garden most of the day, but it will depend on the height of the buildings and surrounding trees. There will be considerably less sunlight in winter as the house will create more shade when the sun is lower in the sky.

I agree with ka7e; it's a NW facing garden, most parts of which will receive sunshine in the day time, but evening sunshine is likely to be limited by the trees.

If you use Google Earth, not Google maps,  there is a facility to show sunlight as the shadow moves across for any date & time.

When your house is up, across the top is a blue cloud with sun peeking out, click and go from there, there's a slider to choose time and dates can be changed, use the spanner symbol. say 21 June to  21 December
