IGLOO stopped trading
I have been with IGLOO energy for nearly two years. They did the usual thing: quoted low to hook the customer; then oh look you are using more than we thought, we have to jack the price up. In August 2020 I was paying £56.87 pcm for Gas/Electric. By 12th July 2021 it was £87.92 pcm. Now (well, recently) they have jacked the Direct Debit up to £103.94 pcm, next payment to be on 10th October. So in less than two years, it's nearly doubled. They have announced they ceased trading today in an Email, but if I am in credit, my money is safe. However, I am in Debit to the tune of some £489+. What does this mean? Will they take the DD for next month? What about the debit balance? We seem to be getting half a story from them/in the MSMedia. Any advice welcome.
Email is (Removed by Forum Team) p.s. IGLOO, I always send in the meter readings on the first of the month, no need for all the chaser Emails!

You owe Igloo £489+.Yes, if you do nothing else they will take the DD.You will be transferred to the SoLR along with all other Igloo customers, who will put you on a price-capped variable tariff and will inherit your £489+ debt. Also, this is the LPG, Heating Oil & Other Solid Fuels forum. You will find most of the discussion of Igloo (and all the other failed suppliers) in the main energy forum dealing with mains electricity & gas:

I wasn't keeping an eye on my Igloo DD's until recently, when I notice that even though my usage (which I did provide to them) was approx. 40 GBP/month. For some reason though, my direct debits were 280 (!) GBP.
So about a month and a half ago, I requested a refund. Kept being ignored, and now they've gone bust. Great! I hope the money is safe, as unfortunately my credit is a couple thousand.0
