Recently, I have been receiving a lot of unwanted messages in my Hotmail Junk mail box

Which I then have to physically remove

Is it not possible to do this automatically - ie) filter them out before I receive them ?

Messages in your junk box are automatically deleted by Hotmail every 30 days.
so you need do nothing.
In fact I find I need to check the junk folder regularly to prevent some incorrectly categorised messages being auto-deleted by hotmail

Why would you want this? The whole point of a Junk folder is that the provider filters the emails out for you but gives you the option of checking whether they are indeed spam or not. Not all email that lands in your Junk folder is spam.

It already is filtered.  That's what your Junk mail is for.

Anyway if they get filtered before you receive them all you'd do (not you specifically but other users) is complain about getting no email.
