Mobile Phone Number

I just purchased a cheap Nokia 105 from Amazon as a family back phone in case anyone ever needs it. I have applied for a giffgaff PAYG sim and the phone is unlocked. This may sound silly but how or when do I get the phone number. I cannot see it anywhere with the phone. Do I get a number when I get my sim from giffgaff?
Thanks

It comes with the SIM.
The phone itself doesn't have a number.2 -
Should be two numbers on the sim , one is phone make a note of the other .

The phone number is printed on the SIM? Can't say I've ever noticed that - although looking at Wiki it suggests that the default mobile number is the MIN (or MSIN, MSID or IMSI_S - take your pick) part of the ICCID, but is only a temporary number for digital cellular systems as the actual mobile number is held at a system level and pushed to the NVRAM part of a SIM.JJ_Egan said:Should be two numbers on the sim , one is phone make a note of the other .Jenni x0 -
You will need to create an account with giffgaff, and activate your SIM card using the activation code on the carrier that comes with the SIM (break out the right size of SIM for your phone). I think that you then get told your mobile number. Activation at giffgaff.com/activate.I've been with them years, for just the puropse the OP is using. Remember to spend some money on a text or call every so often to keep the sim alive, but giffgaff will email you a reminder. Good luck.Back i the day your new mobile number used to be on the SIM packaging. Many people used to go through the stock looking for "golden" (i.e easily remembered) numbers.2

The Wiki article I linked earlier says that this was the case for Analogue SIMs.Whitefiver said:Back i the day your new mobile number used to be on the SIM packaging. Many people used to go through the stock looking for "golden" (i.e easily remembered) numbers.

Hi,you can get sim cards in supermarkets, usually displayed at checkout, pick a provider, phone number will be printed on card.0

But you have to buy the SIM? (Which would not make it free).[Deleted User] said:Hi,you can get sim cards in supermarkets, usually displayed at checkout, pick a provider, phone number will be printed on card.
And no, the phone number is NOT usually printed on the card - it is assigned when you join the network. (Phone number on the SIM was an analogue network thing).Jenni x0 -
Hi,aye, of course, I was just commenting in general, I didn't quote the freebie fella, so wasn't replying to him in particular.Even so, they're only pennies, in the hope that person signs up to a contract.0

The freebie fella resurfaced this thread, so assuming you were replying to them was a reasonable assumption.
But still the number is NOT printed on the SIM card as you asserted.
