I applied for a GHIC a few days ago and got an email response almost immediately that my application had been successful. The email added the card will be posted to my home address but didn't give any indication of timescale. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it won't take too long as I'll be going abroad soon. Your post giving the PRC contact details was very reassuring.  Hopefully it won't be needed.
Similar experience, I applied this morning for both of us and got an immediate acceptance email.
How long it takes to produce and deliver is a separate thing. Going by comments above it should be quick enough.
This is a farce. I have lived at the same address for 42 years. Applied today. Needed proof of ID. Sent it. Guess what? Their mail box is full. What a surprise. This is obviously a delaying tactic. I don't care how much of a backlog they have, the service is obviously not fit for purpose.? Contracted out. Paid for with taxpayers money .Same old same old.
We've been here same timescale - based on my application this morning, as above, I can't see any evidence of delaying tactics.

  • It's rubbish anyway, covers so few countries compared to the old one.

I realise this is a resurrected thread, but in view of some of the very recent posts....

I applied for renewals for recently expired EHICs for husband & myself on 2nd Feb. Cards received 10th Feb.

I used our NINOs & my NHS number. We'd been at this address just short of a year when I applied. No request for ID, proof of address etc
