Return

I recently bought an item as a "buy it now" off ebay, it wasn't suitable for my vehicle, I contacted the seller who gave me the address to return the item to, and did so unused and still in the packaging.
After a few weeks I still hadn't received a refund, I contacted the seller who informed me they won't refund as I didn't go through ebay, I sent it back directly.
How do I stand as now the have my money and the item

You could try raising a dispute via eBay, but due to the time difference and you returning the item outside of eBay's systems they may not be willing to engage.

In theory you might be able to recover the cots via the courts, but whether it would be worth the hassle depends on the value of the part.

Do you have tracking for the return? Did the seller actually tell you to return via without using the eBay system or did they confirm the address that should have been used through the eBay system but you sent it without initiating an eBay return?

You have 30 days from the last ETA to open a return request with eBay.

If you are outside of this you should still be able to open a return but won't have eBay's cover.

You have 60 days from purchase to leave feedback.
