Hi we ordered a car part from Sweden cost of part was 446 Euros with 98 Euros delivery charge we have received a txt from Fedex saying customs bill is £7,758 i have rung them and they say the cost has come from border control i have rung customs and they say either reject and order again but same could happen again or pay and claim back the overpayment, does anyone know what the implications are for rejecting the parcel? The invoice from Sweden is in Swedish Krona which amounts to over 5,000 but converted to euros its the amount we paid.. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like an arithmetic error in a conversion somewhere.Jasperwinston said:Hi we ordered a car part from Sweden cost of part was 446 Euros with 98 Euros delivery charge we have received a txt from Fedex saying customs bill is £7,758 i have rung them and they say the cost has come from border control i have rung customs and they say either reject and order again but same could happen again or pay and claim back the overpayment, does anyone know what the implications are for rejecting the parcel? The problem you may have with rejecting it is that Fedex have already paid the bill on your behalf, so it is now them you owe. Have you asked Fedex what the implications of rejection would be?0 -
Have they? I'd expect couriers operate some sort of credit limit rather than just hope they can get thousands back from the recipient (whom they presumably don't know from Adam).Aylesbury_Duck said:

Stop ringing everyone and stressing yourself out over it - you only need to contact FedEx or your shipper about it.
Clearly an admin/process/paperwork error, most likely around the currency conversion - Due to the amount its unlikely to be delivered till you pay it - Wait for a reply from FedEx would be my advice1 -
I don't know, but that's the usual sequence of events. As you say, they might take a pragmatic approach for larger sums.user1977 said:
