House insurance when moving home

Hello. Hopefully I will be moving home in the next 6 weeks but I do not have an official moving date yet. My house insurance (which I paid for annually) is due to expire in a month. The company I am currently with do not offer a short term option and can only offer me a 12 month renewal. I do not want to take this as there is a good chance I will only be on the property for a couple of weeks after the insurance has renewed. If I take out another year's cover, I would need to claim a refund less the cancellation fee of £40.
I have looked on price comparison sites and there are monthly payment options, but these are connected to a 12 month contract that again come with cancellation fees. I am loathed to pay a cancellation fee as I should only need the cover for a few weeks.
The property I am moving into is already insured by a family member who I will be moving in with, so I cannot take out an annual policy and then move it over to the new address.
Does anyone know of any companies where I can get short term house insurance to cover me for a few weeks, without being tied into a 12 month contract with cancellation fees?
Thank you

People dont typically have a house for a few weeks and so to the best of my knowledge there are no short term policies out there. There are insurers that do fee free cancellations but you will need to balance the premium with the cancelation fee.0
