Rewire lights quote

Hi all. I have just had this quote following an electrical safety check.
Seems an awful lot to change the board and then just rewire the lights but I am guessing it's quite a long job.

To be fair there will be an awful lot of work involved with rewiring the lighting.

    How old is the property?

Reading the spec, new fuse board and rewire two circuits, the price doesn't seem too bad. Get another quote if you want, but I'd expect it to be more.

I'd also say you might as well have new switches of your choice so they match through the house.

The main question here is do you need these things done? Just because something isn't up to the standards of being installed like that today, doesn't mean that it should be ripped out today.

Why did you get the check done? Are things obviously not functioning or dangerous? Photo of your fuse board please. How old is the wiring on the two circuits they propose to rip out?
  • Why have the safety check? If it because it is a rental property then yes I would get it done & the price in this present climate is not bad. But as previous post just because it doesn't meet todays standard doesn't mean replace it. You only replace it if it is unsafe.

Boards and lighting is from when the house was built in the early 60's.
    I have accepted the quote.
