Overseas buyer says GSP item damaged due to bad packaging

Options
I have received a complaint that a book posted through the Global Shipping Programme was posted in a flimsy envelope and has been badly damaged in the post,The buyer in America claims that he received the book in a manila envelope. He has sent some photos of heavy dents in a book that weren't there when I posted it to the ebay centre in the UK.

ebay help say if the item is damaged in transit by the GSP they will refund themselves. Have other people had complaints of bad packaging from the global shipping programme?

  • I wonder if customs have not repackaged it again properly if the parcel was opened by them ?

I buy quite a bit from the US and Asia (some GSP, some not) and i know parcels are opened and poorly sealed again.

I think the buyer needs to open a return and eBay will deal with it but you might be best calling or chatting with eBay first to clarify.

You are correct that eBay cover this as they state once the item is accepted in to the GSP centre it becomes their responsibility.

There was a Youtube video posted here in the past of a guy showing the state of items sent via GSP, pretty shocking but it's a volume operation with next to no care.
