We've just had new double glazed windows upstairs and as they were replacing old windows, were able to specify and get non-trickle vent windows without an issue from our suppliers. We had trickle vents in a previous home, and they were really noisy with the air movement across them on windy nights.

My trickle vents are permanently open. It's difficult for me to climb up to open the windows so I'm grateful that there is some ventilation. I don't notice them.

Does your house suffer with condensation? If yes, trickle vents may help. If no, I wouldn't bother. When we had trickle vents I stuffed them full of insulation material and taped them shut to keep the noise and draught out. Now I don't have any, so much better.
