O/S Daily Wednesday 29 September 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, wet underfoot and laying water after rain from yesterday afternoon into the night, mixed forecast for today, temperature has really dropped.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and I'm enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was LO's had enough of most items, so just added extra veg and some fresh gravy - very nice it was too. Tonight I'm not sure what we'll be having possibly egg, bacon, sausage, beans and mushrooms. DH and I have an a telephone appointment so it depends how long that takes.
Yesterday work was a mixed sort of day, had several tech problems which I hope they have sorted. I'm working just this morning as it's my half day.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all.
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
We are moored under a conker tree and it's wet and windy, it's also very noisy as the conkers are falling on the roof of the boat!I
I meet up with DD1 yesterday which was wonderful as it I've seen very little of my family recently.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC - you'll be pleased it's a half day.Hope all went well at the boobie van Camelot, it's an uncomfortable procedure, but worthwhile.Did you have a good morning TA, as you say, it's not "sitting outside" weather any more.Carolbee, hope you managed your cycle ride.Rosy, the bar8ie cossie was indeed fiddly, I've got arthritis in my hands which doesn't help, but I know it's better to keep doing things. I find cardmaking fiddly sometimes as well, but I enjoy doing it. TBH, I would n't have attempted the swimsuit but for dgd's pleading. She "really wanted one and had a Grandma who could make one". Talk about blackmail!Sorry you've lost stuff on your phone Ruby, hope you can get it back.Nanny, your neigbours attempted break in sounds scary, I would be listening all night for noises as well.Yesterday was ok, got quite a bit done and went for our flu jabs, I've got a sore arm now, but it'll go off in a couple of days. It was pouring with rain when we walked down for them. We were only in a minute, the nurse was waiting, and did them straight away.We went to the quiz last night, it had stopped raining, but was definitely chilly. If we can get diesel we'll go and visit DH's brother next week in the southwest, so I'll work towards that, sort a few clothes out etc.Well, I'll stop nattering on, and wish everyone a good Wednesday - take care folks14

Morning All
It's rained overnight but is dry and clear now, quite chilly too. I may risk putting out the washing as it's meant to be dry today.
Put away all my summer clothes yesterday and put the winter ones in the wardrobe, I certainly don't need anything new this year, apart from a waterproof jacket. Seems such a shame to be putting the summer away.
Hope you can find a way of retrieving your lost messages Ruby.
Can't imagine making a cossie for a small doll Scarlett, you're a good Gran.
The boobie bus was well run as always, uncomfortable for a few minutes but such a great service. I was in work for 10 and played catch up all day.
Have a good day, take care. XX13 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC for the start. Brr it's a bit parky this morning but we can expect sunshine and no rain is forecast. We had enough thank you yesterday afternoon when we miss-timed it and it came down in bucket loads just as we were heading back home.
As usual DF and I had a lovely morning and lunch yesterday but it would have been better had the noisy group of young women in the next booth had more control of their even noisier kids! But to be fair it was hardly the fault of the kids as you can't expect them to sit quietly for hours with nothing to entertain them whilst their mothers laugh and joke amongst themselves!
It should have been bus day today but it's postponed until tomorrow as my BF is meeting up with her DGS before he departs for Uni at the w/e. He's a very clever lad and has secured a place at Cambridge.. She's a very proud Gran!
So today I have no plans other than playing catch up on jobs. Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, poorly loved ones and MIA. Thinking of NELS and MARIE and hoping they are improving. RUBY I hope you finally get sorted today with the work situation. Take care one and all and be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"14 -
Morning folks. I've just surfaced from a long and much needed sleep.Yesterday we all enjoyed a lovely hotel breakfast together. My nephew and girlfriend left first for their flight down to Brum whilst my cousin and I had a bit more time to chat about family affairs before he too headed to the airport. I got a taxi to where I'd parked my car then drove home the long way. I got diesel easily enough so all was well. Once home I didn't stay up and soon fell into bed. It had been a very long day on Monday as after the event the family sat up and talked until almost 2am at the hotel. So...there's only the flat sale to conclude now and that won't take much longer.Today there are only a few fluffy clouds in the blue sky though I'm sure that rain is going to sweep in later. There's a definite chill in the air so I'll bring in some more logs ready to light the stove though I may just wrap up in my electric fleecy blanket instead. I'll try to not be too slothful today. I'll roast some vegetables to go with my chicken tenders later. I must make a more concentrated effort to cut back on my food consumption, most of it is nothing to do with being hungry.I'm going to load the photographs from Monday night onto a BT cloud folder to share with those who were there. That can be done wrapped up! 😂😂
My thoughts are with our lovely missing people - get better soon, hope my hug helps even slightly.Happy Wednesday to all.14 -
Morning, hugs if you need one.
Gers so pleased you enjoyed your night of memories with your family and your Mums friends. Hope it does not take too much longer for the sale of the flat to be completed.
Well......I am vindicated, yesterday the plumber came and confirmed that our toilet is leaking. I have called in the council several times about the smell in the toilet, the chap that came yesterday peeled back the cushion floor behind the toilet and yes!!! the toilet is leaking and has been for some time. He is coming back this morning to sort it. The flooring will have to come up, and the wooden floor scrubbed, may be more than once, and then allowed to dry before I put any floor covering down. At last!!
I started sewing decorations for presents yesterday, was having a problem with the machine loading the designs, but soldiered on.......I had to stop in the middle of a pattern yesterday, so hope the machine has remembered it when I switch it back on this morning. I will have to take the hoop off, fingers crossed. I have been using my usual USB's to transfer designs, have just sent for two that are recommended for my machine, see if that makes a difference.
Its a bright but very cold morning, I did put the fire in the sitting room on very low last night for a while whilst we were watching TV. I am determined I am not putting the heat on until I have to. Have been considering getting one of those fleece katfan things to wear at night.
Supper tonight is pork and rice. We have milk left so will make another rice pudding to use it up, DB can have a full glass of milk at lunch time as well.11 -
Good morning,
Very chilly here but dry. I've got a load of washing in the machine, hoping to get it dry on the line as this is the only dry day forecast for a while.
Had a lovely time with my daughter yesterday as I hadn't seen her for a while
I've picked all my tomatoes and put the green ones in a box with a banana, I've just got runner beans and courgettes left but they're nearly finished. I'm going to try and finish planting the bulbs today and then swap my Summer and Winter shoes over.
Have a good day x11 -

Morning all! Sunny, windy and cold! Had a lie in as well, getting up and taking OH to work makes me feel rotten for hours, don't know what's going on there. I have an appointment this morning, totally frivolous, I'm having some stuff done to my nose and eyes where I have those white deposits from high cholesterol. The cholesterol doc eventually doc wrote back and oops, forgot about me, but keep taking the tablets...Riiigghhhtt...OK. Made the passata and had a blow out, so lost one jar all over the worktop and tea towel, amazing how much mess a pint of liquid tomtaoes can make...Never mind, the rest of it is labelled and under the stairs now ready for any future tomato shennanigans or emergencies. I have to shower and pack ready to go after, my sister has booked in a Mens Shed to go through the stuff in the shed in Wales to see if they want anything and that's tomorrow and I have to cut the grass and organise the space if I can. Whatever they don't want will be sorted by a clearance company. I'll book them in for the week after next. And wonder of wonders, my sister is going on holiday to Cornwall, which she loves, with a friend of hers next week. I'm glad, She needs a break. And some company.Camelot, good to hear all OK. Gers, glad it all went well. Nanny, that's pretty scary, hope they've had the wind up them and stay away. Ruby, oh no! but there are places that can try to recover things..Maybe one of them? And I take back what I saod about your work...Scarlet, congratulations on fashion swimmer barbie
Bella, hope the window replacement went smoothly, it's rubbish weather for having none... Rosy, well done on your organising and decluttering
Sunflower, I haven't got a problem with someone filling them to help someone else out, but his vehicle didn't scream farmer and we don't live anywhere near what could be termed the sticks..But hey ho, he might have been and I might have jumped to wrong conclusions. If so , I apologise internally to him
Right, off to de-smellify and make myself presentable. Have a good day if you can, commiserations to the currently not well, hope Nelski gets something sorted. Haven't seen AOD for a while...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi12 -
Morning all. Bright but cold here today and it was 18 degrees downstairs when I got up.
Yesterday was a day of pottering and playing catch up. We had chilli from the freezer and a jacket potato for dinner then I was out to an AGM in the evening. Met people in the pub beforehand and then got soaked walking to the venue. My shoes have been in the airing cupboard overnight to dry off. Driving home a queue of cars suddenly appeared at one end of the main road; the first car had spotted a petrol tanker unloading so had stopped and formed a queue. Two cars ahead of me literally just stopped, turned round and drove back to join the queue so goodness knows how long it was in the end. Actually diesel seems to be the main problem for people I've spoken to. One of my friends is going on holiday at the weekend so is saving her fuel for that.
Today DH and I are meeting a group of friends for a pub lunch. I shall wrap up warm as we might be in the outside marquee.
Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone.11
