Leasehold Flat Management Company Not Responding
AnxiousNelly
Hello, I'm hoping for advice as I've found some of the posts quite helpful. I am buying shared ownership leasehold flat and we are just waiting on enquiries from the management company and have been waiting 6 weeks for the enquiries to be responded to. From trawling these forums I understand that they don't have to respond and can take as long as they take, effectively making the property unsellable.
Is there anyway I can try and get this information quicker? For example would it be prudent to contact the Housing Association and they could contact the management company?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Worth a try.I'm in the process of buying a flat and it's all held up right now because a number of queries haven't been answered yet by the vendors solicitors/management co., and it's making me think about pulling out. If they aren't responsive to fairly mundane queries what will they be line for important stuff! Plus, do I want this hassle when I come to sell.........Waiting to see what if anything comes in this week.0

I am considering pulling out as well as if there is no update from the management company in 2 weeks as the flat will be unsellable and I won't have much choice.Everything about this flat purchase has been like pulling teeth and after 8 months I'm at my wits end. I live in The south east so non-leasehold non-shared ownership isn't an option because of the cost.I find it very strange that one company has the ability to stop a sale for no other reason than refusing to respond.0

Are you buying direct from the Housing Association, or from a current owner?
Normally, you would chase the seller (whoever they are) - and explain that their management company aren't responding. Then the seller can contact their management company and chase them.
The seller will normally help with this, because they're keen to get the property sold asap - just like you're keen to buy asap.
(But I guess that Housing Association employees might not be as motivated as a private seller might be.)
You can also try chasing the management company directly - but I very strongly suspect that they won't talk to you.
