can I put a freezer in my shed?

HI. Thinking of doing some work here, particularly in the kitchen, which is pretty much how it was 40 yrs ago!. so just wondering, if I get rid of the fridge/freezer in there, and just have a fridge, using the space gained for a little shelving rack for pots n pans, can  I have a chest freezer or maybe a upright one in the shed? shed is single brick, 8x10 so got plenty of room. the brickwork does have damp course, but there is no membrane on the floor,(solid concrete). the shed itself has no leaks, and also no heating, so it does get cold in the winter.
any suggestions welcome. ta.

As long as you can safely get power and it is dry, then I can't see why not? I'd look  for a freezer specifically designed to go in an outbuilding. They are a bit more expensive but I believe necessary for them to work correctly

We have a tall Beko Freezer in a thick wooden outhouse and it works perfectly fine out there. It has been in the outhouse for around 8 years now with no problems at all.

    Hope that helps.

Do you ever have mice in your shed? When we bought a freezer for our garage last year we assumed that "suitable for outbuildings" meant exactly that, but the insulation has been chewed, not terminally but clearly not the best & who doesn't have a mouse or two in an outbuilding occasionally?

You would expect that once bitten, twice shy if the mouse was lucky enough to survive the shock in the first place.

I've had ants eat their way through the back of a freezer insulation. As they entered behind it I had no idea.
But yes, I had a cheap Lec in an unheated larder, terracotta tiles on cement and while it stopped working in very cold conditons nothing defrosted - because it was cold presumably.
On asking at a local shop about a freezer in the garage which stays quite warm they still said to get one made for the job.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

there would be no way a mouse could get in. its brick built with solid concrete floor. door and window are pvc with no gaps. thanks for the info.

that's really interesting as I didn't realise that not all freezers can operate properly in a garage / outbuilding. By coincidence we have a tall Beko freezer in our garage and that has worked fine for the last 6-8 years. I wonder if my one has got Freezer Guard technology or whether it's too old for that? It certainly was no dearer than other makes that presumably didn't have this feature.
