Should I continue switching to Sainsbury's or see what tariff I get with Octopus

Hi,
Just looking for some advice, I switched from Avro to Sainsbury's prior to Avro going bust.
I signed up for a 2 year fixed contract with Sainsbury's last Sunday (which worked out 35pm more than I was paying Avro for the same usage) so I am still in my cooling off period, the monthly price I got with them has now gone up by another £30 PM when I did another quote yesterday.
I am due to be moved to Octopus and my question is am I better off going with Sainsbury's or cancelling it and wait to see what prices Octopus give me on a variable tariff?
Thanks

I'm in the same position but with a move to BG Evolve...
Interested in people's views, but as far as I can see, BG Evolve are around £30 more per year than what Octopus will *probably* offer. However, that deal is only "fixed" until April 2022 and likely to rise a lot. The BG Evolve deal (and I assume your Sainsburys one) is until October 2022, so is highly likely to be cheaper overall.
That's my take anyway.
**Sorry, just see you did a 2 year fixed. It's a small risk, but I would assume you are going to be much better off longer term by sticking with your fixed deal.
I used this page to compare Avro, Octopus probable, and British Gas Evolve...

I asked the question literally half an hour before Avro announced they'd gone about reversing the switch if i wanted to and someone said it would probbly be too late if Avro went. I don't want to mess this any further up by cancelling a switch now but it's entirely up to you. I haven't even looked at what Octopus are offering to be honest because i'm assuming whatever it is it's gonna go up in April!!0 -
Unlikely to get a better deal than Sainsbury's.0

I really wouldn't try to cancel the Sainsbury's deal. You will just end up paying more in the short term and probably loads more in the long term.Sainsbury's have no exit fee, if by some miracle prices do come down you can always switch in the future.0

I'm just coming to the end of a fixed tariff with Octopus and renewed things with them a couple of weeks ago (before all the recent frenzied media attention, but aware that prices were forecast to rise). My new tariff is an increase, but is at least now fixed for 24 months. Short answer therefore is that you're unlikely to get anything much better than the Sainsbury's deal you've signed as all these guys are in the same boat. The small ones will struggle, many more will fail, the large ones will get through it. There ain't going to be any cheap energy deals around for a long time, if ever.0

Also if asking for individual advice regarding which deal is best, its better to give us the unit rate and standing charge of each deal and your estimated annual consumption (EAC), by saying "this is 20quid a month more, and this 10 a month more" doesn't mean very much, as that is assuming you've calculated things correctly and the direct debit is accurate for usage.
I suspect if you signed up to the sainsburys energy deals that have since been withdrawn these will be the best for the moment. If they have no exit fee then you can easily move elsewhere later if other options are cheaper however you won't b able to go to that sainsburys energy deal if you cancel the switch!1 -
My switch to Sainsbury’s - 2 yrs v18 is going through, the tariff Octopus have put me on is way more expensive, no way I’d cancel my switch to Sainsbury’s esp with the cap rising. There are no exit fees so if, in time, something better comes along I’m free to switch.1

Have you actually compared unit costs from the tariff from Octopus and the ones from Sainsbury’s? That what really matters and was far higher on the tariff from Octopus than Sainsbury’s. Plus the fixed rate protects from increases of the price cap in oct and April fir 2 yrs.0

How does everyone know what tariff they're getting with octopus? It hasn't been announced yet?
