So it isn't hard to get the tariff details from here: https://octopus.energy/tariffs/Don't use the 'Quote' option just scroll down and enter your Post Code. This is the Eastern area for example:

Like a few people on here just switched to Sainsburys V18 tariff which I think has now gone up further in last few days so guess V18 no longer exists for new applicants. It was however cheaper than current supplier Scottish power standard online tariff that I was on. Good things I noticed is can leave exit free if prices ever go down (unlikely) £60 Nectar Bonus for joining and some stability for two years.
When working out energy prices I always base it on the actual unit cost per KWh of gas and electric and the cost of the standing charge as obviously the company with the lowest is going to be the cheapest whatever your usage is.
What I would like to know as cant seem to find it anywhere is what is the so called capped unit cost per KWh of gas and electric? as Martin talks about the cap being cheaper in some cases.

This is my example, I was with Bulb and their 1st October rates were:
Elec 21.59 p/kWh and 25.65 standing.
Gas 4.196 p/kWh and 26.11 standing.
My Sainsbury's 2 year fix V18 is:
Elec 20.74 p/kWh and 25.66 standing
Gas 3.99 p/kWh and 26.12 standing
£60 nectar points and 2 years of surety made me click that switch as fast as I could!
Those on a cheaper plan already would have found that a harder decision to make (like my mum on Igloo) so I'm glad I was in that position last week.
If I were you, I'd stay with Sainsbury's, definitely.0 -
This is for the south west, and the bulb was their variable rate.Crdw said:This is my example, I was with Bulb and their 1st October rates were:

The Octopus variable tariff just got updated to bring it closer to the '£10 below the cap' figure Octopus stated in their original information to Avro customers:For Eastern region:
