Scooter courier

I have a scooter license and am looking to make some money in my spare time by taking courier jobs for packages in my area. Can anyone please suggest where to look first, in terms of the opportunities available and how I should go about doing this? Is there a system or site I should sign up to for this? Thanks!

Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0

Don't forget that you need insurance for business class use - even if you only use it once for business use, you could invalidate your entire insurance.1

If they are working as a courier I suspect they will need something even more specific that just ordinary business cover.Jillanddy said:Don't forget that you need insurance for business class use - even if you only use it once for business use, you could invalidate your entire insurance.0 -
Possibly. I don't know the in's and out's of it, just that I know the police around many areas are cracking down on checks on couriers because there are a lot of people out there who are using vehicles not properly insured. Since the start of the pandemic a lot of people have come up with the wheeze of making some money from such activities without getting the right insurance because of the high demand for people to do deliveries. Now insurers and the police have caught on.Manxman_in_exile said:

I understand the level required for courier work is insurance for hire and reward.Jillanddy said:Don't forget that you need insurance for business class use - even if you only use it once for business use, you could invalidate your entire insurance.
Perhaps one of the insurance folks could clarify.0 -

Thanks everyone for your help. Does anyone have any experience in doing this themselves? How easy is the experience to sign up as a courier for these sorts of jobs (say through Indeed.com)? Is there a online that helps assist couriers through the process, or makes their lives easier?0

I'm also just trying to decide which couriering jobs to accept i.e. which might be best-suited to my own schedule. Does anyone have any experience on which companies are particularly easy to work with from the courier's perspective?

It obviously depends where you live etc. here our street is a constant buzz of scooters for Deliveroo, Uber Eats, Stuart, Just Eat etc.danrichards37 said:Thanks everyone for your help. Lots of work but lots doing it. Usual issues of the gig economy and some will do reasonably well but others will make tiny money and find themselves unsupported if involved in an accident, theft etc0 -
Oh wow, so has anyone else found that courier companies don't provide you with a lot of support (e.g. when involved in an accident etc.)? How about when it comes to actually supporting you to perform each couriering job e.g. advice on best routes to take etc.?0
