Cars done 79000 miles, 2012. Only 7 months since getting the car.

I told them it was a noise and they said flywheel, they haven’t given me much information to go off other then it could be covered under warranty.

Question in relation to the brakes, If they changed the sensor for them how can I have worn them out to the point of needing new disks in 3000 miles?
what make and model is the car?

as said it could be the dual mass flywheel that is starting to fail but without all the info we can only guess if the car even as a dual mass flywheel. if the dual mass flywheel has failed it might be covered by the warranty but f the clutch plate has worn out it wont be covered hence the warranty company asking for pictures to see which parts are worn or failing

I think the motortrade is one of the toughest professions to be in, the consumer expectations are insane combined with a lack of understanding. I understand why traders at the bottom of the market just refuse to engage with customers after the sale.

    Very true.

There are very few substantial purchases of second-hand goods that Joe Average regularly makes.

Houses and cars are about it.

For a house purchase, Joe Average is quite happy to employ a swathe of legal and technical professionals to ensure the purchase is what he expects...

So why does he just buy a used car - often sight-unseen - without any kind of check, then expect a car that's more than two-thirds of the way through its average life to be as good as new...?

    28/09/2021:
car shop calls - warrenty company where I pay for extended warranty want pictures to prove the damages. This will cost me £600.00.

I contact RAC warranty company: question why I should pay for something they need to determine weather they will pay for the fault. The response I got was we need the pictures to prove if the clutch caused the problem with the flywheel, if it confirms it was the clutch they will not pay for the repair.

I have been quoted £1426.00 for the job to be done and this is after paying £270 already.

If the RAC won’t cover the cost it will cost me £600 for the car shop to put the car back together and still be faulty.

It sounds like to investigate the cause of the failure the clutch needs to be removed and inspected along with the flywheel. If it is deemed not to be covered by warranty your choices would be to:
    1) pay £600 for the car to be put back together unfixed then pay again for it to be fixed OR
    2) pay £1426 for it to be repaired

These type of issues can crop up in motoring, often when you are least prepared for them and you've been a bit unfortunate that a couple of expensive repairs have coincided.
Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.
  • But they do have a tendency to do things like this at a certain age and buying at 9 years old is going to increase the risk level somewhat.
