STUDENT LOAN FRUSTRATION
Options
I'm not sure this is the correct board but we are getting so frustrated with the student finance loan company
Even at this late stage my daughter has been told she has zero grant. There is absolutely no reason for this. Both my wife and I are not high earners and have earnings combined well below any threshold.
My son spent three years at university and then my daughter had her first year last year , all went without any hitch whatsoever but this year its been a nightmare.
They send letters which basically tell you what she can claim without any explanation as to why. We have phone about 10 times and the operators ( not getting at them ) dont really have a clue about why, they just repeat what the letters say. They keep asking for more financial information such as P60's etc and we keep sending the same documents
If you phone they cant help, if you write we dont get a reply
Is there any way we can speak to someone who can explain exactly what the issue is or is there someone out there who can help us
Thanks

SFE or the Welsh/Scottish equivalent are also quite quick at responding on Twitter I have heard
if she is studying for her first degree and a UK citizen then she should qualify for the £4k minimum maintenance loan (not a grant) even if she doesn't get more than that.
