Problems Being Switched From NPower to E.On Next

The Ombudsman has upheld my complaints and I should get a written apology and a small goodwill gesture (£75) however I must either pay to have the 2 unused meters removed or contact EON Next every month to ask them to refund the standing charges for the unused meters. I am trying to find out if an automated email will be OK to request this.
I have also realised that when they estimate the usage for the 2 meters that are disconnected they estimate about £114 per month despite the meters never having advanced for over 6 years.
The reason I do not want to have the 2 unused meters removed is that I might want 3 phase supply for my workshop in the future and it will cost a lot of money to get the meters removed and even more to have new ones installed.
I don't understand why the energy supplier can't just accept that a meter is not used and therefore does not require a tariff.
I might start another thread about energy usage estimation algorithms!0 -
Suppliers are required to carry out safety checks on meters. The fact that it isn’t in use is immaterial: it still has to be checked and replaced when it reaches its end-of-life.martynjhogg said:The Ombudsman has upheld my complaints and I should get a written apology and a small goodwill gesture (£75) however I must either pay to have the 2 unused meters removed or contact EON Next every month to ask them to refund the standing charges for the unused meters. "Suppliers are required to carry out safety checks on meters."How often? I know that in the 19 years living in the present house neither the gas nor electricity meters have been "safety checked".0

Yes, I understand that there is a cost to just maintaining a record of a meter but its frustrating that we had no issues with N-Power and with EON Next we got absolute chaos.[Deleted User] said:Suppliers are required to carry out safety checks on meters. What I really need is a 3 phase smart meter! - 1 supply, 1 meter, 1 total reading, 1 standing charge.0
