Direct Line

Yesterday I was asking if I should remain with my current home contents insurance.
Because of the feedback I am going to change to another provider. ML always says check with companies not on comparison sites

Looking at Direct Line who seem to be able to offer me everything I want covered in their PLUS policy
Anyone have any experience with them ?
Many thanks again

Had a DL Plus policy for several years only ever had one claim when a full length mirror on a built in wardrobe got accidently broken, submitted a claim with an estimate for a new mirror door, within two days they appointed a claims inspector who contacted us and came round to look at the damage and agreed to a replacement, within a week a cheque arrived for the full amount, so on my personal experience they were quick, efficient and paid out without any quibbles.1

my parents got burgled, came within 3 hours to fix the door. I tend to pay slightly more to keep DL, their only within 10 pounds or so of other cheaper providers, small price to pay for better perceived service at least. I have their Car insurance, but not used yet."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Thanks for that information. I live in a retirement leasehold apartment. It is a scandal.what I have to pay for the buildings insurance. It has more than doubled since the leasehold was sold just under 3 years ago. This year just under £700. To add insult to injury they charge every owner £19.99 as an admin fee. There are 44 apartments. There would appear there is nothing we can do about it. I withheld the fee but they just added to my next ground rent.
The Direct Line plus policy seems to cover everything I have always had with every policy.
At £143 I consider it to be value for money.
I was insured with Admiral for the past 2 or 3 years
Again thanks for your feedback.

Find it difficult year on year to move away from DL on home and car insurance , Great cover and better priced .

As I said I am very happy with the cover and at £143 is cheaper than the renewal with Admiral. I really would not want to remain with them. The terms of the policy ( which my daughter said was sloppy wording) meant they did not want to pay out but my daughter took it to the Ombudsperson who ruled in my favour. I will set a new policy with DL
Thanks again I really appreciate your advice.

I've been with Direct Line for car insurance for many years. I've never had to make a claim, touch wood, so haven't needed to put them to the test in that way. Everything else, however, has been good. They haven't done anything funny with premiums, which have remained stable, and their customer service was good on setup and in respect of changing the car on the policy. The level of cover is pretty good too.1

Thanks Mitzy. Like the others who have replied to my question it's good to know that people are satisfied with the level of cover etc.
Once again thanks everyone
