Hi All,
A rag with white spirit on it accidentally got washed in the washing machine now the inside smells of white spirit. I've tried several hot washes and even added vinegar to no avail. Can anyone help?

You have my sympathies - white spirit is a tricky smell to get rid of. The usual recommendation for washing machine pongs is soda crystals - cheap and easily available, it's got to be worth a try.If that doesn't work, I'm half tempted to suggest running a tiny bit of washing-up liquid through on a hot wash. The detergent is pretty good at emulsifying oil, which is basically what white spirit is. However, odds on this'll create a whole heap of foamy bubbles, which will probably find their way up through the detergent draw and spill out. No big deal as such (it won't cause any damage), but you'll need to keep an eye on it, put some old towels or such-like on the floor to catch it, and mop up as you go along.0
