I recently applied to switch my Co-Op Bank account to Santander for the switch reward. Santander have emailed/sent letter to say switch is completed with all DD Showing (Not game pass ultimate) that will be on the 6th October, and all money transferred over with Co-op sending sorry your leaving letter, but how come I can still log into co-op online banking??

do i need to do anything?

Can you clarify?  Is the switch complete today, or recently? What is your ref to 6th October about?

If already complete then your co-op account should be closed, though if completion was today it may still show.

And if you have other coop accounts (eg savings accounts) you'll still be able to login anyway.

If it's all happening on 6th October then nothing's happened yet.  Except maybe the info is being gathered.

So the switch was completed on the 24th September with all DD's/Money Transferred over from Co-Op with £0 balance left, with Santander saying switch completed email and letter about new account with co-op sending sorry your leaving letter,

Only DD's I can't see is xbox game pass ultimate £10.99 which next payment is due 6th October according to Microsoft website all other DD's I can see in online banking,

I have no savings with Co-op but can still Access online banking thought account would be close just after switch completed

So the switch has completed, but there's a dd missing.

And your coop account still shows when you log in?

It might all sort itself out, but I'd be talking to Santander's switch team if I were you.

The payment for the Xbox game pass is likely to be a recurring debit card payment and not a direct debit. The current account switch process doesn’t switch recurring card payments to the new provider, you’ll need to update your payment card details with Xbox.

I’ve never had an account with Co-op. Maybe they leave online banking access open for a period of time to enable you to download previous statements etc.

Basically, if the company has taken your sort code and account number to set up a regular payment, then it’s a direct debit. If they have taken the card details, it’s a recurring card payment (although sometimes a company might charge the card regularly but not set it up as a recurring card payment, either way it’s not a direct debit).
  • Out of interest, I visited my local Co-op Bank recently, they usually always recommend upgrading my account to one of their other current accounts available.  There was a slight difference in their 'sales pitch' this time, in that they made a point of stating ..."following any potential switch, your old account will remain open for as long as you require it to, until you close it", I just thought it was interesting how they have now added that sentence (rightly or wrongly ...I assumed they had received customer complaints regarding outstanding old accounts maybe).

You likely need to establish which account your final direct debit (xbox) is going to leave from as you may need to put funds in your old account to cover / or cancel the direct debit with old account and make alternative payment arrangements (albeit this should have been done for you).   You could ask them at the same time to clarify if you will be required to 'close' the account yourself afterwards.
