Energy Providers mess

I am one of the unfortunates who got caught in the present energy supplier problems. I was with Green and in the middle of changing to Avro when everything went pear-shaped. On Sept. 9, Green took my regular Direct Debit, and today Avro took an even bigger DD without informing me, I did not know they had set up a DD. I already had a credit balance. I have of course emailed my complaints but who knows when I will get my money back. I have now cancelled this Direct Debit. So annoyed.

Welcome to the forum. Try asking the bank to reverse the DD taken by Avro, there's nothing to lose and it may well be the quickest way to get your money back.0

It is somewhat academic now that Avro is in administration but most suppliers now take the first month's DD payment in advance of supply. No supplier can set up a DD without you signing a mandate. You will have provided them with your Bank details during the sign up process. Any money that you have paid to Avro will be picked up by Octopus when it sets up your account.Wellingt0n1 said:I am one of the unfortunates who got caught in the present energy supplier problems. Finally, I should add that a credit balance for credit meter consumers does not transfer from one supplier to another. The SoLR for Green (Shell) will refund any credit due to you but this may take a few weeks.0
