Hotfix Applicator on irregular shapes?

I use a hotfix applicator to put my own rhinestones on clothing but i recently got some heart and skull shaped ones which seemed like a change from the usual round ones, the only problem is my hotfix head attachment's won't cover these shapes.
Has anyone else successfully applied these other shapes with the applicator wands?
