Driving licence renewal after expiry
I realised last week that my driving licence photocard expired in March and I must have missed the reminder letter. I have applied for renewal and posted the form, and cannot find a straight answer as to whether or not I can legally drive. The DVLA website states that I can continue to drive if they are processing my application, but I am unsure if this only applies if it expires whilst it is being processed, or if I am covered as I have sent off the application ? Where do I stand given that I am applying so long after it expired?
Many thanks

It's not a problem. It doesn't affect your right to drive, at most there's a separate offence of having an out-of-date photocard. If your application is already with them nobody is going to care.0

If it's JUST your photocard that's expired, not the actual categories on the back, then you are perfectly legal to drive.1
