Any app which tells you if a petrol station has fuel?

I've kept off the forecourt all weekend hoping that the panic buying in my area would die down at some point but now am getting to the stage where I can't really wait any longer without myself and the family being involuntarily homebound until we can fill up.

I did a (very!) early morning round of the three 24hr pumps within a 20 minute radius but all were out of fuel.

Sorry for the long winded post, is there any easy way of figuring out which pump has fuel? I don't mind driving a distance and queuing for a an hour or two but can't risk doing that unless there's some surety.

Thanks.

Look at your local media, local FB groups.

In the unlikely event they have no info, look at the FB profiles for the petrol stations... Even pick the flippin' phone up...

    It's pointless driving round.

I thought this would be a remarkably good idea but then if everyone has the same idea, then you'd just move the panic to those stations!

I can ride out the next week or so as I don't drive daily, but there will come a point where I need some petrol. Are motorway services any better? I'd assume people driving on those wouldn't be the crazy people clogging up local roads, but maybe everywhere is going to be manic until the government does something.

I doubt it's going to be much of a problem after another few days, as all of the punters who didn't actually need the fuel will have full tanks.
  • I got 15 miles left, which for my car means around 10. Got the morning school run, two different locations, 3 if you include dropping the wife to the station.  Wife can walk, but the kids are all driving distance.

Queue today for the main station was blocking up the roads and causing a backlog in traffic

If you are within driving distance of a motorway service station then that may be an option to you.

I have done the same over the weekend and heeded the advice to wait and fill up as normal - I will need to put in some fuel on Wednesday so I either join a queue in the next day or so and be labelled a 'panic buyer' or I take pot luck and see if I can find some on Weds.  Either way, it seems that the ones doing as advised are more likely to be those that have little left in their tanks which is annoying.

    Hope this helps

Local FD group round here are now deleting posts on petrol.

One muppet posted a tanker @ a station. 15 mins later utter chaos in the area as people blocked road in both directions trying to get into the station...

It's a good idea in theory, although probably not much demand in normal times.
Electric car charging apps show you which charge points are occupied or not, and the cost per Kwh at each one.

  • You can check Google Maps and traffic. If there's a queue by petrol station, that means they have fuel. If there's no queue, no petrol then. That works in my area in Surrey.

There are three petrol stations near me. All have both petrol and diesel. None have a queue.

I understand that some people are posting this kind information on the Wase app although I think it's now a bit pointless as around where I live it's now not particularly difficult to get fuel.
