Advice sought please.
Wanted to change Ryanair flights and initial screen on website had confirmation button to review charges. When you decide what flight  change you want  the confirmation button then pays for the flights and we lost the balance about 400 gbp which Ryanair pocketed chat bot not interested in helping. Any help advice welcome please

As per Ryanair T&C's General terms & conditions (ryanair.com) they do not refund a difference if you change a flight to a cheaper flight:

    13.3 Cost of flight changes

Flight-change fees are charged per person for each one-way flight (outbound and return) and change according to the season. See our table of fees for details.

As well as the flight-change fees, you must also pay any difference between the original fare and any fees for optional services (such us check-in bags) paid at the time of booking and the fare/fee available when you make the change. If the fare/fee of the new flight is lower, we will not refund the difference.

If you are travelling with children and the seats you chose in your original booking are not available on the new flight, you will be charged the price difference if the new seats you reserve are more expensive. (If the price of the new seats is lower, we will not refund the difference.)

Ryanair are correct under the term Bagand has listed above.

You voluntarily changed your original ticket. If Ryanair had cancelled, the situation would be legally very different.
