Sainsburys Energy

I am in the middle of switching to Sainsburys Energy and today I need to submit my opening meter reads. I submitted gas fine however when I try and submit electric it comes up with error 'this field cannot be null' but I have entered my meter read into it.

Has anyone else had this error or know how to submit the electric without getting this error?

Thanks!

You will have to contact them, they will lodge reading for you, have read of same problem many times  from Octopus Energy new customers.

Yes indeed, I experienced the same problem recently with initial electricity reading on joining Octopus but in my case I either had to add some leading 0's or submitted the reading via a mobile phone and it was accepted. I think that it was the latter (mobile phone). Worth a try if you haven't already.
  • Try a different web browser, may help.

I had the same issue on Friday. I ended up contacting them via Facebook and sending them my meter readings

  • Sainsburys asked for my meter reading yesterday too, but they did say I had 10 days to submit it. I assume they will use the submitted reading as the final units charged for by the previous supplier so we should leave it to the last minute to keep getting the cheaper rates as long as possible?

"We take your first payment when we start supplying your energy so your account opens with a bit of credit. As we're estimating your annual energy usage in the beginning, this helps smooth out any changes and keep your monthly payment the same.
    • We'll email you for a meter reading on: Saturday 2nd October 2021 Send this any time before midnight on Saturday 2nd October 2021 and we'll pass it on to your old supplier.
This reading will be the last unit of energy you pay your old supplier for, and the point where you start paying us. We can't always use the first meter reading you send us as it needs to be agreed with your old supplier but don't worry, you'll never pay for the same energy twice.

If you can't send us a reading by Saturday 2nd October 2021, we'll use an estimate based on your previous readings."

*In my case, bulb will be more expensive than my new fixed tariff with Sainsbury's will be, so I'm doing my reading as soon as I'm able.
  • Having same problem tried 2 x browsers and mobile no joy.

    Sorted via Facebook messenger.
