Boiler Parts Replacements and Clean

Options
Hi all,

Recently we've had our boiler serviced. The tradesman said the boiler is running fine but there are a few things he believe worth to fix and gave following quotes:

Works:
- Supply and replace spark electrodes and main burner seal.- Clean heat engine internally while seals being replaced.- Test and adjust.

Price:
£209.47 (includes VAT)

Does this sound like a fair price?

Thank you.

It's a little expensive, but as you are not going to accept this quote it doesn't matter.

The service will have already cleaned what needs to be cleaned, and if the seal needed replacing he would have condemmed the boiler until it was done. Similarly, the electrodes either work or they don't. I would not have any of this work done until it actually needs doing. The boiler could go wrong in the next couple of years adn £209.47 would be a good starting point for a fund to replace it.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.
  • Sounds like its a newer boiler they will need a new gasket on reassembly when cleaning inside the heat engine.
Some will need a new gasket due to age (or actual run time) of the boiler.   All service events should be recorded in the benchmark installation commissioning and service record log book. mentions what has been done in the comments box.

Electrodes some just wear out or they have been upgraded / redesigned by the manufacture due to issues  :*

Dont know which gas boiler it is. Only as an example a worcester greenstar cdi gasket+electrode kit around £60

An hours labour (including travel ) £100

    Plus vat  o:)
