6000 mile oil change intervals, no?

What is confusing about that? Oil degrades over time, it also degrades "with use", as it were. The "miles or months, whichever comes sooner" is standard practice for damn near every car ever made. The little old lady who only goes to the shops once a week will need the oil changing after 12 months, even though it's only done 3000 miles. Up until a year ago, I was doing 2000-odd miles a month, so was changing my oil every 5-6 months.Flatulentoldgoat said:AdrianC said:
Too long, probably, for the sake of lower ownership costs and never mind longevity.Grumpy_chap said:What does the Nissan service schedule recommend?
4-6k is overkill these days, otoh.
I'd be going around 10k or so - it also makes it easy to keep track of when it's due, if you align it with an odometer roundieth.where I'm confused is the book of words appear to state X miles or 12 months, whichever is sooner.
