When to switch off frost-free fridge freezer before moving, please?

Options
Hi folks.  We're moving house any day now and our big items are being moved by a removal firm on Monday morning (27th).  This includes our fridge-freezer.  I'm assuming it's a 'frost-free' one, as there's no build-up of ice inside and there never has been. It's a Samsung one and we bought it in 2014.  I realise this is probably a daft question - sorry - but I wondered when we should switch it off?  I'm pretty sure that we won't have to do the 'hairdryer-bowls-warm water' thing though, like in the good old days?!  Many thanks in advance.  :)

Not sure there is any specific time but I would ensure the evaporation tray is empty, and clean, as you may get water trails when it is moved.
  • Thanks @BikingBud; I appreciate your comment.  I hadn't thought about the evaporation tray...no-one wants any trails, water or otherwise!  Thank you.  :)

Probably more important to leave it upright for half a day (or as per instructions) in your new home before switching it back on to avoid damege.
Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.
  • We didn't even think about the drip tray at the back of the freezer and when we came to move it went all over the floor and the stench was horrendous! I always make sure I now regularly empty it. Didn't even realise before as we never pulled the fridge freezer out!

I ate my way through and cleaned it out a couple of days before the move.
Then let it stand a day after the move when it was in situ
Eating down the local supermarket made more time for packing - or family maybe though they tend to take up more time.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Frost free f/fs aren't really frost free, the ice is just hidden out of sight. When you turn it off the ice will slowly melt and drip down into the drip tray, it won't evaporate away as the compressor isn't on so it won't be hot. Short of leaving it 24 hours after turning off you may well leave a trail of water when it's moved, I dare say removals men are used to this sort of thing and will know how to deal with it.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.
  • Thanks @Wes121708; I didn't think about this so your input is really appreciated, thank you.  Hopefully our fridge won't be too whiffy....but I expect it will be?!  We've still got the manual for our fridge freezer and it doesn't mention anything about how to 'care' for it when you move, which I find strange.  Luckily you folks are on hand on here!  Thanks again.
  • Thanks @twopenny, I appreciate your comment.  :)
  • Thanks @NSG666; luckily where we're going (rental) there's a fridge freezer in situ, so we can leave ours to settle once we're in.  Cheers.
  • Thanks @EssexExile; I didn't know any of this so you've been really helpful.  You're right, I suppose removal men are used to this happening so I/we'll do our best to make it as 'dry' as possible for them!  Thanks again.
